In AmCAT, all '''data''' and '''data analysis resources (search strings, coding schemes, coding jobs etc.)''' are stored within '''projects'''. Your first step as a new AmCAT user is to '''create your own project'''. To do so, first click the '''‘Manage Projects’''' button on the AmCAT welcome screen.

This directs you to the '''overview of your projects''', which, as a new user, will be empty. Here, click on the button '''‘create new project’'''.

In the next screen, here shown to the right, enter the '''name''' and a '''description of the project''', mark the project as active, and select the '''[[3.4:Managing your AmCAT project users|role]]''' of project guests (i.e. AmCAT users that are not a member of the project). Click 'Save' to save your new AmCAT project.
