In AmCAT, all data and data analysis resources (search strings, coding schemes, coding jobs etc.) are stored within projects. Your first step as a new AmCAT user is to create your own project. To do so, first click the ‘Manage Projects’ button on the AmCAT welcome screen.

This directs you to the overview of your projects, which, as a new user, will be empty. Here, click on the button ‘create new project’.

In the next screen, here shown to the right, enter the name and a description of the project, mark the project as active, and select the role of project guests (i.e. AmCAT users that are not a member of the project). Click 'Save' to save your new AmCAT project.

After saving your new AmCAT project, you are directed to your new project page, where your project article sets are stored and listed. This list is empty for a new AmCAT project, so the next step is to upload articles to add data to this new project. Furthermore, if you share your project with other users (such as co-authors or coders) you can add them to the project and change their user role.
